Commissions

What exactly is a Commission?

Commission is just a fancy way of saying you hiring me, in essence “Commissioning” me, to photograph your next upland bird hunting adventure. Since each hunting trip is a unique experience there is no correct, one-size-fits-all Commission. Each one is a custom, made to order artistic expression of your hunt. With that being said there is also no standard price point for a Commission. Price will be determined according to what you desire from your Commission. Do you want me to photograph your single day corporate outing, a weekend hunt with friends, or artistically document your annual Father/Son pilgrimage to The Cosmic Prairie?

Below are two portfolios, both examples of what is possible with a Commission. The first, Valle De Oro 2019, is taken from a full days hunt with varying light conditions and a lot of action. The second, Montana Cast and Blast 2017, was shot over a weeks period at three different hunting locations; with travel days, peak fall color, and the general shenanigans one would expect, all culminating with a cast and blast on Curtis Creek. Both are meant to be viewed in sequential order to get the full “Gonzo” effect of each photo shoot.

Gonzo?

What do you mean by Gonzo?

Gonzo is the term I use to describe my upland photography style. Gonzo, photographically speaking, due to the absence of rules and the speed at which the magical moments occur in the field. I have combined traditional photographic training with a lifetime of experience in the outdoors to make my own rules. Rules which I use to put myself in the right place at the right time to capture the fleeting moments. Gonzo, as an attitude, because of my desire to photograph your unique adventure, no matter how crazy or far flung. If you can dream it, I’ll photograph it, Gonzo style!

Technically speaking, it means I’m gonna strap on two cameras, lace up my hunting boots, and walk as far as it takes to capture the exceptional moments. All of em. All of the moments you’ll cherish.

The point “Ol’ Duster” made in the red sand hills of Western Oklahoma, the last time you hunted with Papa. The miraculous shot your son made on that Rooster in the Big Sky Country last fall, the one that jumped up at your feet and damn near gave you a heart attack. The laughs y’all shared on the tailgate afterwards as the sun melted into the Montana prairie.

Your stories. The stories that define your experience. These are the photographs that will tell those stories.

The stories that will live forever.
